I have been playing with Vista build 5112 and the desktops icons are very large on a 1024x768 setting.
Is there a way to make these smaller.?
By the way I think Vista is awesome.

Desktop Icons on Build 5112
No, not in build 5112, this has changed in the latest build 5270, you can right click on the desktop and select from the context menu the Icon size of choice, Small, Large or Extra Large. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Yep, but I think lot of things factored into that such as the resolution it self since Vista is also designed to supported huge LCD displays in Media Center Environments. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Yeah, I realize that, but the large icons do have a purpose, I don't have hawk eyes for miniscule icons on a 30 inch display. Concerning other icons, they need to make all of the full resolution, example when enlaged, the Bug report icon on the Vista desktop just displays a big box. -- -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "NLWard" wrote in message

there are several issues with the viewability of icons and fonts using different dpi settings and resolutions. this has been discussed in the ease.of.accessibility ng, and the dev team is well aware of these issues. build 5270 has several problems with this that have been resolved for the next build. please realise this is still in beta form and will still be very buggy for a while until everything is worked out.

True.
There appear to be somewhat similar problems with icon size in XP that have not been fixed -- with certain large font settings coupled to high resolution.

of course, we still need to discuss many things
i figure ill let these guys know whats going on a bit so they can feel at ease for the next build, not that i can make any guarantees about it, but it will be better for these issues in particular, as they have been reported resoveld for the next build.
